Arizona FIRST LEGO League

What do AZFLL volunteers do? They make AZFLL a success! Teams need mentors and the tournaments depend on volunteers for everything from set-up and check-in to judging and scorekeeping.

Become a Volunteer Here!

Arizona FIRST Lego League is currently seeking volunteers to serve as judges, referees, scorekeepers, and more for our 16 tournaments occurring across the state in November, December, and January. Follow these simple steps below and we would be thrilled to have your help.

1. Decide  on your volunteer role:  We offer plenty of different roles that volunteers can choose from:

Observant? Try out a position as one of our Core Values Judges to see how teams interact with one another.

Feeling technical? How about being a robot game referee?

Morning Person? You can help with our volunteer check-in!

No matter what your experience or background with FIRST, we have a role that will suit your strengths. To learn more about the various volunteer roles available, click HERE

2. Decide where and when you would like to volunteer:  We have tournaments all over the state of Arizona from as far north as Flagstaff, ranging through the valley, all the way down to Tucson, Yuma, and Sierra Vista. To learn more about the specific dates and locations of tournaments, click HERE

3. Sign up in our online Volunteer Portal:  Volunteers can now register with the FIRST LEGO League Volunteer Information and Matching System(VIMS).  This site will allow you to set up a profile and apply to volunteer for specific roles at any of our 16 tournaments. If you have any difficulty with the system, please email Hilary Mitchell at

*FIRST values the safety of every single child that participates in our program. Volunteers are required to complete a background check, however, FIRST will pay the fee! We want to make sure all of our participants are in safe hands.

We are so grateful for all that you do! Thanks to our incredible FLL volunteers, young people across Arizona are getting a life-changing opportunity and equal access to STEM education.
