Summer 2021 Virtual Camps

This list is arranged by grade level. Please select based on student’s grade level in school year 2021-2022.

Participants must have computer a stable internet connection and a webcam with a microphone and access to ZOOM virtual conferencing

LEGO PlayMakers (Grades 1-4)

Get your bodies moving and your hearts pumping with LEGO PlayMakers. Build your own LEGO playground, obstacle course, and other models centered around the theme of being active. You will learn to design, engineer and make things move –  all with LEGOs! Each day features a different challenge where you will build, test, and modify until you have designed the perfect LEGO creation. You will learn LEGO design and building techniques and utilize the FIRST LEGO League core values.

Registration fee includes LEGO supplies required for camp. This is a two-week camp and a repeat from the Winter 2020 camps.

LEGO BoomTown Build (Grades 1-4)

Get those construction helmets on! LEGO BoomTown Build is all about creating your future city. This camp will introduce you to the world of architecture and engineering. You will learn about interlacing and constructing strong foundations, accessible design, and the future of environmentally friendly buildings. Each day features a different challenge where you will build, test, and modify until you have designed the perfect LEGO creation. You will learn LEGO building techniques and utilize the FIRST LEGO League core values.

Registration includes LEGO supplies required for camp. This is a two-week camp.

LEGO WeDo robot kit

Exploring the LEGO WeDo 2.0 Robot with Mission Moon (Grades 1-4)

3, 2, 1…blast off! We are headed to the Moon. This camp is all about constructing your moon base so you can live, explore, and be a lunar scientist. We will also incorporate the WeDo 2.0 LEGO robotics kit to create a Lunar Rover, mechanical airlocks, satellite tracker, and other WeDo LEGO Education designs. Each day features a different challenge where you will build, test, and modify until you have designed the perfect LEGO creation. You will learn LEGO building techniques and utilize the FIRST LEGO League core values.

Registration includes LEGO supplies and a loaner WeDo 2.0 robot with pre-paid return postage. Discount available if camper has their own WeDo 2.0 robot. This is a two-week camp.

LEGO Challenge Camp (Grades 2-6)

This camp is an introduction to the world of engineering. You will learn to design, engineer and make things move –  all with LEGOS! Each day features a different challenge where you will build, test, and modify until you have designed the perfect LEGO creation. During this camp, you will construct a LEGO zipline, rubber band car, balloon propelled vehicle, and soapbox racers.

Registration fee includes LEGO supplies required for camp.

This is a two-week camp and aa repeat of the Summer 2020 camp.

LEGO Power Functions (Grades 6-8)

Put your LEGO engineering and design skills to the test in our Power Functions camp. Campers will use Lego Technic parts and the Power Function motor pack to create a variety of mechanical contraptions from cars to an XY-plotter. Each day will focus on different gear systems, structural design, and incorporating the remote control to control the power function motors.

Registration fee includes LEGO supplies required for camp.

This is a two-week camp and a repeat of the Winter 2020 camp.

Spike Prime robot

Programming SPIKE Prime Robot (Grades 5-8)

Campers will explore the possibilities of the new LEGO Spike Prime. From building grabber arms and a programmable safe to autonomous robots that can navigate around your room, every day offers an exciting adventure. Campers will also learn the fundamentals of block-based programming used to control the Spike Prime. Algorithms, loops, events, conditional statements, and using variables are just some of the many programming elements that are incorporated in this versatile camp.

Registration includes a loaner SPIKE PRIME robot with a pre-paid return label. Discount available if camper has their own SPIKE Prime robot. This is a two-week camp.

LEGO 3D Printing (Grades 5-8)

This camp is your introduction to the world of 3D design and printing. We will learn to create a variety of simple and complex shapes and figures, 3D print keychains and LEGO compatible elements and explore the possibilities of TinkerCad Code Blocks and other design features. Campers will be able to watch their designs being printed via livestream in the Fulton Engineering 3-D printing labs.

Printed items will be mailed to you after camp has concluded. This is a two-week camp and is offered twice.

SEE@ASU (Grades 11-12)

Join other motivated high school juniors and seniors for an exciting introduction to engineering at ASU! Explore all 25 undergraduate engineering and technology programs offered at the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering, gain a deeper understanding of the engineering profession and career opportunities by meeting faculty and current students, engage in hands-on activities and virtually visit research labs on both the Tempe and Polytechnic campuses, and exercise creative problem-solving skills through interactive learning modules and team projects.
