Faculty Outreach Opportunities

The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering hosts a variety of on-campus activities, after-school programs, summer camps and collaborations with faculty and engineering student organizations in an effort to engage Arizona’s K-12 students and create pathways that encourage them to become technically savvy, prepare for studies in science, technology, engineering and math-related fields (STEM) and pursue careers in engineering. Through creative hands-on activities, we hope to inspire these young students and show how engineering impacts our lives every day. Below is a list of opportunities for you to get involved whether for research or your own passion for education.

Fulton Outreach Activities

Throughout the year, we will be working with Arizona schools to bring school-aged children to both the Tempe and Polytechnic Campuses to experience the life of a Fulton engineering student. Faculty involvement can range from tours of your lab(s) to hands-on activities to even a brief presentation about the research that you do.

Open Door

This event hosts up to 8,000 families on the Tempe campus and 3,000 families at the Poly Campus. The event opens our campus doors to the surrounding communities and families by hosting hands-on activities, laboratory tours, video games and featuring ASU’s cutting edge art and research. If you would like to participate in Open Door please let us know!

Fulton Summer Academy

K-12 Outreach & Recruitment Camps

The Fulton Summer Academy gives elementary and middle school students the opportunity to explore engineering through engaging, hands-on activities and field trip visits to various locations around campus. Through these experiences, students gain an understanding of how engineers are improving the world each day through creative problem solving to make us healthier, safer and more comfortable.

SEE@ASU is a five-day residential program wherein high school juniors and seniors come to campus for an exciting introduction to the engineering & technology profession, faculty, students and the innovative programs offered at the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering. Students learn more about academic expectations and university life, and start to think about how you might take advantage of the many opportunities available to our engineering students. Students visit research labs and learn about undergraduate research opportunities at the university and in industry.

Faculty-Led Summer Camps

Faculty develop and manage their own program. Customize your own summer camp by taking your research and teaching from the university classroom to children ranging from kindergarten to 12th grade. Camps can run weekly in June and July with multiple sessions possible based on demand. Faculty manage their own programs including: identifying space, managing registration lists and communication, developing curriculum, collecting fees if applicable, and ordering supplies.
