The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering hosts the Honeywell Fiesta Bowl Aerospace Challenge presented by American Airlines which stands as one of the largest extracurricular STEM program for grade school and junior high students in the state. This contest allows fifth through eighth grade students the opportunity to enhance their knowledge of space technology, through the development of an International Lunar Base complete with a physical scale model. Approximately 300 teams and 1,300 students will participate, in which they work in groups to achieve critical problem-solving, communication, team-building and decision-making skills. As a result, they will expand their knowledge in subject areas such as math, science, social studies, language and fine arts. Over 40 schools, organizations, and clubs from all over the state will be represented in this year’s competition! The preliminary round of competition takes place over a three-day period, with the top three teams of each day advancing to the finals.
