FIRST® LEGO® League Explore

Beyond tapping into my son’s imagination, FIRST LEGO League Explore helped him learn how to take an idea, think it through, and then share it with others – all in a fun, collaborative way.

About the Program

In Explore, teams of students ages 6-10 focus on the fundamentals of engineering as they explore real-world problems, learn to design and code and create unique solutions made with LEGO bricks and powered by LEGO Education WeDo 2.0.

There are three essential parts to Explore each year: core values, the LEGO model, and the team poster. For more information on each aspect, see the subcategories under Explore on the left.

Explore

Explore the yearly themed Challenge at home or in the community, researching ways to solve a real-world problem.

Create & Test

Create and test a Team Model using LEGO® Education WeDo 2.0 to show the ideas.

Share

Share what you learned through a Team Model and a team poster.

About the Season

Each year in early August, FIRST LEGO League Explore releases a new Challenge for teams that focuses on a scientific topic. Teams are sent on a journey of discovery to learn all they can about the topic, then present their findings in the form of a team poster and a LEGO model that moves.

You may recruit 2 to 6 interested team members ages 6 to 10. A coach is allowed to coach multiple teams. Each team must have at least 2 adult coaches. Once you have a team (you do not need all team member names yet), you may register.

The videos below showcase how to start your team, what to expect at the Expo, and an overview on this season’s theme.
